Dear Speedanki users,

My name is Péter Kasza and I’m jointly working on developing the site with Vili. As the first post to the blog states, there have been a few modifications to the site, mainly fixing bugs and improving security.

I am working in my free time on improving the site, so sometimes new features may take a while. I’ll try to implement the easy-to-do ones first so that you don’t have to wait months for something new.

The first visible change I have made concerns the list view. I have added buttons for toggling the kanji and hiragana for each entry. This way you can quickly skim through a large number of cards and ‘flip’ only the ones you didn’t recognize. I personally use it for practicing writing kanji.

Current plans for the site include:

  • randomization of the cards
  • keyboard navigation
  • personal comments for each card
  • editable example text
  • displaying stroke order
  • kanji to hiragana transcription based on the learned cards

Please feel free to contact us with your ideas on improving the site.

Thank you all for using speedanki!

Dear Speedanki users,

I’m Vili Lehdonvirta, owner and webmaster of Speedanki.com. Since I took over the management of the site almost a year ago, I have introduced some small changes and bugfixes that most of you have probably not even noticed. From now on, some more notable updates are starting to be on the horizon, in large part thanks to Péter Kasza, who has joined me in developing the site. We have set up this blog to communicate with you about these improvements and to hear what you think about Speedanki.

We’ll get back to you with more information soon. Thanks for using Speedanki!
